Church of Holy Cross
From Prague-wiki
Church of Holy Cross (Kostel svatého Kříže in Czech) in the Old Town is one of Prague's Romanesque rotundas (the other being Cahapel of Saint Longin in Nové Město, Chapel of Saint Martin in Vyšehrad and Church of Saint Mary Magdalene in Přední Kopanina), standing on the corner of Karolíny Světlé and Konviktská streets.
Ths church was built in the end of 11th century. In 1784 it was deconsecrated by the order of emperor Josef II and it became a private warehouse. In 1860 it was threatened by construction of a new house. Fortunately it was saved by the Artistic Club of Prague, including famous Czech painter Josef Mánes. City Council decided to buy the building and architect Ignác Ulmann made a free of charge restoration of the exterior.
Nowadays the church is used as a parochial church of the Old Catholic Church.
